About The Author

I have always been deeply drawn to the diverse phenomena of life and the underlying organizing principles that govern our world. My work explores the intersection of nature and culture, bridging a multi-disciplinary academic background in science and cultural studies with insights gained from my global travels. In my writing, I weave these analytical perspectives together with lived experience, examining how the fundamental structures of our thought resonate in our perception of both nature and human society.

For over twenty-five years, this exploration has also taken a physical form. As an avid diver and underwater photographer, I document the complex life of coral reefs, seeking to capture their inherent beauty and delicate balance. In my first book, 'Reflections Underwater,' I reflect this worldview, aiming to enrich the diving experience by adding an intellectual layer to its profound sensory dimension.

Parallel to my work beneath the surface, my travels focus on the observation and study of ecstatic religious phenomena. This theme is central to my second book and first novel, 'Al-Mahdi,' which delves into the inner workings of a Shiite fundamentalist extremist, seeking to understand the roots of radical conviction and the intricate connection between evil and compassion.
